Woolwich Killer First Court Appearance, Michael Adebowale Faces Murder Charge
Michael Adebowale, the man accused of murdering Drummer Lee Rigby, appeared in court for the first time today restrained in handcuffs and walking with a pronounced limp.
The defendant was cuffed at the wrists, and sat in the dock behind bullet proof glass between two plain clothes police officers.
The 22 year-old was quiet and even nodded in acknowledgement of the judge’s comments at the end of the five minute hearing.
Appearing at Westminster magistrates’ court in central London he spoke only to confirm his name and address, replying calmly with just the word: “Yes.”
As he walked to and from the jailer’s door into the dock, the defendant appeared to be holding up his white cotton trousers with his cuffed hands in his crotch.
His right hand was clearly bandaged. The defendant is believed to have lost several fingers during the incident in Woolwich, south east London, last week and was also shot by police from an armed response vehicle.
Howard Riddle, the chief magistrate, told him: “There’s no need to stand, Mr Adebowale. I understand you have been injured.”
Adebowale appeared under high levels of security, including a police helicopter hovering over the court in Marylebone Road.

N10m Lawsuit Filed Against Lynxxx
Some weeks back it was on the Net that he was in a scuffle, but the full details where not spilled out, but it has now been confirmed that Nigerian hip hop artiste, and Pepsi ambassador, Chukie Edozie, aka Lynxxx, is facing litigation at Igbosere Magistrates’ court for allegedly beating up a UK-based Nigerian businessman, Richard Bennet.
Bennet is asking for N10m damages for assault and battery as Lynxxx and his crew reportedly caused body injuries to Bennet in a fracas at a Lagos night club, Ntycee Lounge and Restaurant
The claimant, who was said to own two bars in Nigeria and the UK, in his claims, explained that he had gone to Ntycee with his nephews to relax.
He said it was while strolling around the club, that his drink spilled on a lady who allegedly slapped him and emptied the content of her glass cup on him.
Bennet said, “Edozie on learning what had happened, grabbed me by the lapel, and later broke bottles and threatened to kill me if I did not apologise to the lady who I later learnt was his relation.”
The fracas led to the club being closed by the owners of the bar.
Bennet alleged that Edozie and his men waited at the gate, regrouped and forced themselves into the club where they “brutally assaulted me with several blows to my head and body.”
A copy of the medical report from the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja where the claimant was admitted said, “he was seriously beaten up by a group of people, and was hit with iron rod in the head, with severe pain and bruises over his body.’’
The counsel for the claimant, Mrs. Tina Wils-Ubong, of the Festus Keyamo Chambers, however said Edozie had been served papers inviting him to answer to the offence, which he refused to accept or acknowledge.
She said the Keyamo Chambers was still making efforts to serve the defendant papers.
Wils-Ubong informed the court of the Chambers intention to file an ex parte.
The magistrate, Mrs. A.F Botoku, however, said it might not be necessary as the court had written the state Citizen’s Mediation Centre, where the matter could be resolved between the two men; and if this failed, it would be returned to the court.
None of the parties to the matter was in court, except the counsel for the claimant.
The matter was adjourned till July 2.

If my permutations on the workings of the heart of the average Nigerian is right (I have not been wrong on too many occasions), I can authoritatively declare that Goodluck Jonathan will remain President of the Republic until May 2019. My theory is hinged on what I call the Tortoise hypothesis.
Tortoise Hypothesis?
Tortoise's only son was caught by his father committing an unspeakable sacrilege and was adequately punished by Tortoise who tied the young tortoise to the tree in front of his compound. When people and passersby saw him on their way to the farm and market in the morning they wondered why such a young man should be so punished. But on being told what atrocity the young man has committed, they agreed that he deserved much stiffer punishment.
It was a sunny day and by late evening when people returned from the market and farms, alas the boy was still tied to the stake! The people then felt the punishment had taken too long. After all, what is it that has not been witnessed under the sun? Tortoise must be a wicked fellow to have subjected such a poor boy to such horrendous punishment! This was the new mindset of the same people who felt that the boy deserved worse punishment earlier in the day.

14 Years Jail Term For Same Sex Marriage
The House of Representatives has approved a 14 years imprisonment for persons who contracted same sex marriage in the country.
This was sequel to a clause-by-clause consideration of a Bill for an Act to prohibit marriage or union entered between persons of same sex, at the Committee of the Whole.
“Marriage or civil union entered between persons of same gender shall not be solemnised in any place of worship, either church or mosque or any place in Nigeria,” it said.
Introducing the bill, Rep. Albert Sam-Tsokwa ( PDP-Taraba) said that it sought to achieve a far reaching objective by outlawing same sex marriage and provide punishment for offenders.
It also set out a 10-year sentence for “any person who directly or indirectly makes public show of same-sex amorous relationships’’.
“Any persons or group of persons that administers, witnesses, screen and shields the solemnisation of same sex marriage in Nigeria on conviction, will be liable to 10 years imprisonment.’’
It would be recalled also that the British Prime Minister, David Cameron, had warned that his country would consider withholding aid from countries that did not recognise gay rights.
In Nov. 2011, the senate approved the bill that would make same-sex marriages punishable by up to 14 years for the couple and 10 for anyone abetting such unions.
The bill is expected to be sent to the Senate for concurrence.

9ices Alapomeji Records Loses Acts
According to NET, Alapomeji Records has lost four of its artistes: Seriki, Wise, Kayefi, and Snow. A rep for Seriki confirms this, saying the rapper has parted ways with 9ice. Other sources tell us soul singer Kayefi and Pop singers Snow, Wise have also thrown in the towel. ‘It’s true, they’ve ended their time with Alapomeji, they left recently‘, Seriki’s rep told NET over the telephone. All four artistes spent about four years under Alapomeji Records but failed to break through as solo artistes.
This is rumored to be the reason behind the mass departure. ‘It’s been four years, no album, just a few singles and low budget videos for them, 9ice kept promising them big things but nothing materialized. He never had time for them, only his career‘, one insider told NET. Other sources tell us that the artistes don’t believe 9ice is in the capacity to handle their career anymore since he has allegedly not set up any proper management or admin system at the label.
Last year, 9ice also parted ways with his longtime manager and friend Fajana Dehinde. Since 2009, 9ice has released three solo albums ‘Tradition‘ and the 2012 double effort ‘Bashorun Gaa‘ and ‘Versus‘. Late last year, he promised he would be releasing in 2013, another double album ‘CNN‘ and ‘GRA‘ and finally an ‘Alapomeji All Star‘ album but in March 2013, he shelved the projects and released a new album ‘Certificate Reloaded‘. Alapomeji Records was setup in 2008 after he left EDGE Records (where he released his debut album ‘Certificate‘). Alapomeji released his second album, the successful ‘Gongo Aso’. Other Artistes who have left the label include Ajayi Brothers and Zara.The label is now left with 9ice and his cousin Allan B who signed in 2010. 9ice could not be reached for details as his phones were switched off.

After MTN's Porting Ad, Nigerians Refuse To Port, Tomi Adedeji Tells Why.
A few weeks ago, telecoms giant MTN wowed us with their ‘I don port’ ad featuring popular comedian Saka. If you’re new in this clime, Saka is a popular comedian who had featured on several Etisalat ads making him a popular face of that brand (Etisalat is a competing telecoms provider).
In what popular writer Tolu Ogunlesi described as the “biggest coup since Sani Abacha in 1994”, we suddenly woke up to Saka announcing his cross over to MTN. The ad went viral, it got us talking, Facebook was awash with several caricature adaptations of Saka, twitter was agog, MTN and Saka trended for some days, with record views on YouTube. ‘Great ad,’ many of us said. I for one applauded the strategic thinking behind the ad. MTN and DDB (their advertising agency) I imagined must have pumped hands and popped champagne. Come LAIF (Lagos Advertising International Festival) in October, I’m sure they’ll pick not a few awards (in fact, a grandprix may not be far fetched).
But now that the dust appears to be settling, the question I’m asking is how many of us really ported or will be willing to port? Statistics released by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) revealed that over 4,000 subscribers from the four GSM operators migrated with their lines to other operators, within 48 hours after the Mobile Number Portability (MNP) was launched on April 22. For a country with over 100 million mobile phone subscribers, this is number is minuscule. In addition, I have no encompassing data at the moment, but from asking people around me, no one has told me they knew someone who knew someone who has ported to MTN except Saka of course! Rather, there appears to be movement away from the yellow corner i.e based on findings from my circle of friends.

Chris Brown Investigated For Hit-And-Run' By LAPD
Chris Brown has got himself into a needless spot of bother yet again.
According to TMZ, Brown is being investigated by the LAPD after committing a 'hit-and-run.'
Remember it was reported he had a car incident last week? It's not as cut and dry as that suggests, as the 24-year-old rear-ended another driver earlier this week but allegedly refused to give her his driver's licence and it's being claimed that passed over incorrect insurance.
Brown's Range Rover inflicted 'medium damage' on the Mercedes in Toluca Lake on Tuesday, according to a report from the same celebrity website.
Brown, who didn't try and flee the scene, has more to lose than most as he's still on probation for beating Rihanna back in 2009.
If there's evidence to suggest he left the scene without fully disclosing information, his probation could be violated and he could face a prison term of up to four years.
I wonder why he would put himself through all the drama?

Brown's Range Rover inflicted 'medium damage' on the Mercedes in Toluca Lake on Tuesday, according to a report from the same celebrity website.
Brown, who didn't try and flee the scene, has more to lose than most as he's still on probation for beating Rihanna back in 2009.
If there's evidence to suggest he left the scene without fully disclosing information, his probation could be violated and he could face a prison term of up to four years.

A woman whose boyfriend caught her sleeping with his 16-year-old son after he set up a camera to film ghosts has been jailed for six months and ordered to attend a sexual rehab clinic in Tasmania.
The boyfriend, who had set up a video camera to try and catch ghosts in his haunted home in Australia, returned home to find his partner of 11 years had seduced his teenage boy last October.
He demanded the truth and phoned police to report their lewd betrayal - as the age of sexual consent is 17 in the Australian state.
After pleading guilty to seven counts of unlawful sex with a young person aged under 17, the 28-year-old woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was jailed for 12 months today at Hobart Supreme Court, with six months suspended.
Justice David Porter said: 'You are the one who must bear full responsibility for what happened.
'Although the relationship that commenced was more opportunistic than predatory, that cannot truly be said of your conduct later on.

Some things just don’t add up when it comes to the Woolwich killings. There are certainly more questions than answers. Let us examine the facts. An off-duty British soldier by the name of Lee Rigby was walking down the street in the charming and peaceful London suburb of Woolwich. All of a sudden, and out of the blue, he was randomly selected and run over by a car which was being driven by two young black men. After they hit him to the ground with the car the two young men jumped out of it, armed with machetes knives, a rusty old pistol and a meat cleaver, and in a deep and uncontrollable frenzy amidst shouts of ”Allahu Akbar”, proceeded to take his precious life by carving him up, mutilating him, butchering him and beheading him in full public glare.
This all happened barely 100 metres away from Rigby’s Army Barracks home. The attack began at 2.30 pm whilst the soldier gave up the ghost at approximately 3.00pm on a four-point inter-section roundabout and crossroads.
Immediately after finishing their gruesome act the killers then conducted their own impromptu press conference, brandishing knives and meat cleavers in blood-soaked hands, with random members of the public asking to be filmed and qouted whilst their clothes were soaked, drenched and dripping in human blood. After their ”presss conference” ended they moved to the other side of the road and calmly waited for the police to arrive. They had all the time in the world to do so but they plainly refused to run and attempt to avoid arrest or the imminent arrival of the police. According to eye-witnesses (and I watched the footage on CNN) the police took no less than 30 minutes to get to the scene and confront the two killers. They did NOT get there in the 9 minutes that they are claiming.

Six Bombs Found With 17 Year Old Oregon High School Student

Police arrested 17-year-old Grant Acord after it was revealed he might have been making a bomb he planned on planting at West Albany High School.
When searching the boy’s bedroom, authorities discovered six bombs along with written plans and checklists.
Benton County District Attorney John Haroldson says Acord’s plan was “forged and inspired by the model of the Columbine shootings.”
Police swept West Albany High School with a K-9 unit, but they did not discover any bombs.
This situation is not being taken lightly, and many feel as though a major tragedy was averted.
“This is beyond a kid playing with a couple of cherry bombs. It was serious enough to warrant calling out the bomb squad,” Albany police Capt. Eric Carter told KATU-TVin Portland.
Albany is approximately 75 miles south of Portland.
According to Haroldson, Acord will be arraigned Tuesday as an adult on one count of aggravated attempted murder and six counts each of manufacturing a destructive device, possession of a destructive device and possession of a weapon with intent to use it against another person.

She was commissioned as a Combat Flying Officer alongside 126 others who finished the Direct Short Service Course 2010/2011 Cadets of the 325 Ground Training Group at the Nigerian Air Force Base, Kaduna.

She was quite excited and proud to have made history and said: “It is very uplifting and I feel very proud of myself though it has been very challenging. Coming from the civil war and the civil mentality, the Air Force has done a great job because it has changed our orientation. I believe that all females have equal opportunity to dignify their rights in whatever adventure they choose they can do.”

Woolwich Killers: The Case Of Michael Adebolajo
Extremist cleric Omar Bakri yesterday described the Woolwich terrorist he inspired as a ‘hero’ and praised him for remaining at the murder scene.
Bakri, who is banned from Britain because of his extremist activities, including alleged links to Al Qaeda, met Michael Adebolajo on numerous occasions throughout 2004.
The 28-year-old was filmed with blood on his hands, ranting at passers-by, as he waited to confront police after Lee Rigby was hacked to death.
Michael Adebolajo (circled) was arrested with five others in November 2010. All were said to have been heading for neighbouring Somalia, where they had been recruited by Al-Shabaab. Not long after it is alleged that MI5 targeted him as a potential informant. he refused and claimed he was being harassed by them.
Standing at the centre of a crowd, wearing a skull-cap and holding a mobile phone, this is Michael Adebolajo on the anniversary of 9/11 in 2009. He was among hundreds of young Muslims who gathered outside Harrow Central Mosque in North-West London, to 'defend' it against a planned joint protest by the English Defence League and Stop the Islamisation of Europe group.
