Mariah Carey and her arch rival Nicki Minaj have officially announced their exit from American Idol, they both took to twitter announcing that it was time to concentrate on their music.
Mariah, 43, confirmed she will leave the show after just one season - which she was reportedly paid $18million for in order to undertake a world tour following the success of her latest single Beautiful.
Her PR firm PMK announced this, with reports that Jennifer Lopez has been targeted to return.
Since both ladies joined the talent contest show, drama has never been far away.
June last year saw Mariah arrive at the audition with a police escort and security agent after an alleged 'gun threat' from Nicki Minaj.
On the other hand Nicki later tweeted: 'Thank you American Idol for a life changing experience! Wouldn't trade it for the world! Time to focus on the Music!!! Mmmuuuaahhh!!!'
