Jay-Z recently signed a mammoth deal with Samsung Mobile that saw the mobile giant purchasing a million copies of his forthcoming album ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail’ before the album even dropped. The deal is worth US$5million for Jigga but that’s not where the talking point lies. Everyone has been questioning whether these album sales will be considering by Nielsen SoundScan, part of the team that rates if an album has gone platinum or not.
It turns out that due to regulations that state that bulk album sales do not count, the million presold albums will not be considered although we doubt Jay will have any trouble hitting platinum anyway!
