Check out the cover for ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail’ Jay-Z’s New album, he wasn't messing around when he said #NewRules. The rap mogul sold one million copies of his forthcoming album, ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail’ to Samsung Mobile before it’s 4 July release date.
Initially the RIAA board ruled that the pre-release date album sales would not count towards platinum status for the album but it seems all that has now changed. In a statement released by the regulatory board, they’ve decided to change the rules because the music industry landscape is changing. This then means ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail’ is officially platinum, thus making it the first album to ever go platinum before it even hits store shelves.
The Samsung album sales will however not count towards his Billboard chart ratings.
