A baby who was born with half a heart and was given just a 50 per cent chance of survival has amazed medics by flourishing - thanks to swimming lessons.
Charlie Cobb, one, from Brighton, was given just a 50 per cent chance of survival after being diagnosed with hypoplastic left heart syndrome. The condition prevents the left ventricle of the heart from developing in the womb. He was given a 50 per cent chance of survival when he was born and had to have open heart surgery when he was just one-day-old. But he is now thriving and his mother believes his weekly swimming lessons (left) have been the key to his improvement. He is pictured (right) in hospital with his father Dan Cobb.
