Rapper J.Cole has sampled the late great Afrobeat legend on his second album ‘Born Sinner‘ which will officially be released on June 18.
The track titled ‘Let Nas down‘ is produced by NO I.D (Kanye West‘s mentor) and features samples from Fela’s 1973 song ‘Gentleman’.
This isn’t the first time Fela’s music has been sampled by a US Hip-Hop artiste; the likes of Nas, Common and The Roots have all sampled several songs from Mr Anikulapo-Kuti in the past.
