Yet Again, Police Watched As Hoodlums Killed Delsu Undergraduate And Friend

When will these type of occurrences stop?, what pains me most is the fact that you always hear that there were police officers around and they did nothing.

Punchng reports: Policemen attached to the Badagry Police Division, Lagos State, and some hoodlums have been accused of killing a 25-year-old undergraduate of Delta State University, Ifechukwude Nwainokpor, and his friend, identified simply as Kazeem.

An eight-minute video clip of the gruesome killing, which was made available to PUNCH Metro, showed the two victims handcuffed together. They were covered in their own blood and beaten to death with sticks. Tyres were also put round their necks.

An irate mob could be seen in the video, shouting, “die, die, burn them, burn them.”
At some points in the video, a policeman was seen interviewing the boys. He asked who sent them (victims) to rob the area, an accusation they denied. One of the hoodlums, holding a sharp object attempted to cut off the private part of one of the victims.

Nwainokpor could be seen pleading with the hoodlums and policemen to spare his life, saying he could identify himself if given a chance. His plea, however, fell on deaf ears.

Our correspondent, who visited the family of Nwainokpor  on Tuesday, learnt that the lynching took place around 3pm on July 21, 2013 in Ajara area of Badagry, a community not far from Nwainokpor’s family home.

He was born in Wenling, China with a rare genetic skin disease known as Ichthyosis, after the ancient Greek word for fish.

Ichthyosis is a heterogeneous family of at least 28 generalized, mostly genetic skin disorders. All types of ichthyosis have dry, thickened, scaly or flaky skin. In many types there is cracked skin, which is said to resemble the scales on a fish.

Aswad Ayinde Jailed For 90 Years For Fathering 6 Kids With His Own Daughters

Music video director Aswad Ayinde, 55, who won an MTV award for directing The Fugees' 'Killing Me Softly' in 1996, has been sentenced to 90 years in prison for repeatedly raping his six daughters and fathering six children with them.

Aswad Ayinde is jailed  for raping his daughters to create a "pure" bloodline, fathered six kids with them from the mid-1980s to 2002 - and delivered the babies himself, the court heard during his trial last Friday

"He said the world was going to end, and it was just going to be him and his offspring and that he was chosen," his ex-wife, Beverly Ayinde testified at a pre-trial hearing.

Prosecutors said Ayinde kept the kids from blabbing about the rape by beating them and isolating them from other children. All his daughters were home schooled.

"I was afraid to ever accuse him of being demented or being a pedophile," Beverly Ayinde, who had 9 children with him told the court. "I knew the word, but I wouldn't dare use it because it would result in a beating."
Prosecutors revealed that Mr. Ayinde began having sex with his second daughter from the time she was eight-years-old, impregnating her four times. He faces three more trials over the alleged assaults.

Mr Cameron "I Want To Export Gay Marriage Around The World"

David Cameron today vowed to ‘export’ gay marriage around the world as he held a party to celebrate the passage of legislation in Britain.

The Prime Minister told a gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender reception in Downing Street of his personal pride at legalising gay marriage.

Mr Cameron told guests at the same reception one year on that Britain was now “the best place to be gay, lesbian or transgender anywhere in Europe”.

He added, “that is a great achievement. That’s not my measure; that is an internationally recognised measure. But there’s still a lot more work to be done.”

Thanking the ministers and civil servants who helped to pass the legislation into law despite objections from the Tory Right, he said, "It’s been a real pleasure to work with you and to deliver this landmark social change for our country, which to me still comes back to the simple word of commitment.”

He added that he wanted to "export" same sex marriage around the world so other countries could follow suit.

Many Nigerians Confirmed Dead As Migrant Boat Capsized Off Libya Coast

More than half the people aboard a rubber boat carrying 53 African migrants died when it capsized off Libya, Italy's Ansa news agency says.

Thirty-one people drowned in the accident that occurred late Friday, and the rest were rescued by a freighter and brought on Sunday to the southern Italian island of Lampedusa, Ansa reported, citing the survivors.

Most of the migrants came from Nigeria, Gambia, Benin and Senegal, and the survivors were suffering from shock and hypothermia. Italian authorities say more than 470 migrants have reached Italy in a 24-hour period.

Italian TV on Sunday showed a wrecked motorised rubber dinghy that the Africans told authorities had capsized after setting off from Libya's coast.

Each year, thousands of migrants pay smugglers in hope of slipping ashore in Italy. Many attempt the Mediterranean crossing during periods of calm warm seas, as in recent days.

£3,000 UK Visa Bond Payment To Commence In November

Outcry against its £3,000 tourists visa bond notwithstanding, Britain will commence the scheme in the six listed Commonwealth countries in November, Financial Times report quoted the Home Office as saying.

The Commonwealth countries to be affected by the policy which was announced in June are Nigeria, India, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

The affected countries are considered to be source of “high risk” tourists to the UK.
Some visitors from the six countries, under the scheme, will be asked to pay a £3,000 cash bond in return for visitor visas that allow them to stay in the UK for up to six months.

According to official data, these six countries accounted for more than half a million visa applications in 2012. There have been outpours of anger by governments of the affected countries, especially Nigeria and India against the policy.

A protest in India last month forced the British Prime Minister David Cameron to declare that final decision had not been taken on the policy, while the Nigerian government asked Britain to renounce the scheme.

The Federal Government, through the Foreign Affairs minister, Olugbenga Ashiru,  had in June expressed “the strong displeasure of the government and people of Nigeria” over the “discriminatory” policy.

Popular comedian and OAP, Okeremute Iruvwe aka De Don has donated one of his kidneys to save his brother’s life.

NET has reliably gathered from sources that the Delta State-born comedian who is currently recuperating in a hospital in India gave out a kidney in order to save the life of his brother who urgently needed a transplant to survive.

A source also told our reporter that De Don’s brother, Morris Iruvwe had initially undergone a kidney transplant in 2009 and now required another due to the collapse of the new kidney.

‘Morris’ first kidney in 2009 was donated by one of his sisters. Since the operation, he has had to travel to India every now and then for check up until 2012, when he could no longer do so due to financial constraints.

DMX Arrested For D.U.I In South Carolina

Rapper DMX cant seem to stay out of trouble as he was arrested at the Greenville County after he was booked on 2 counts of Driving Under the Influence and also without a valid license.

Reuters reports that the rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, paid $1,235 in bail and left Greenville County Detention Center after being booked on the charges, jail officials said.

But a representative for the 42-year-old New York-born rapper, who lives in South Carolina, said the DUI charge was never filed officially because Simmons passed a breath test in the jail.

“He was in and out in under an hour,” Domenick Nati of Nati Celebrity Services, Inc, which represents DMX, told Reuters. Local law enforcement officials could not be reached for comment on the discrepancy.

Protest Over Death Of Suya Seller In Benin

A protest was held  in Benin City, the Edo State capital, over the death of barbecue (Suya) seller, Musa Alkali in Oredo Local Government Area.

Alkali was said to have been killed, allegedly by agents of the state revenue agency last week Friday at his suya spot on ADP junction by Airport Road.

Members of the Hausa community on Tuesday, staged a protest at the Oredo Council secretariat, alleging that late Alkali was stabbed to death following his alleged refusal to pay N100 fee to revenue agents reportedly from the Oredo Council Area.

However, Chairman of Oredo Local Government, Osaro Obazee, while reacting to the allegation, absolved the team of revenue collectors of complicity in the death of the Suya seller, saying: “No responsible government would send revenue agents to go and kill anybody on any account.”

While urging the aggrieved Hausa protesters to be patient, Obazee said he had ordered a full scale investigation into the incident.

If there was any doubt that she is in charge of the country, it was dispelled last week with what could easily pass as a “presidential address” by Her Excellency, Dame (Dr.) Patience Faka Jonathan.

I take issue with the way the First Lady of the Federal Republic has carried herself since a combination of good luck and political intrigue brought her to power as First Lady three years ago.

From being the inconspicuous wife of a vice-president whose main job was not remarkable, Mrs. Jonathan has grown to the most powerful First Lady in the history of Nigeria and she is blithely usurping the power of the President.

When the First Lady is more visible and vocal than the President, then something is wrong. We thought we had it bad with Turai Yar’Adua. While the late Umaru Yar’Adua was snoozing at the Presidency, his wife and her cabal ran amok, almost imperilling the country.  When that grotesque absurdity came to an end in May 2010, Nigerians heaved a sigh of relief. Little did they know that they would look at the Turai Yar’Adua era with palpable nostalgia.

Of course, like all power-besotted individuals, it is easy for the First Lady to attribute her power and position to some divine force. And that was exactly what she did last week when she gathered some “men and women of God” led by Bishop God-do-well Awomapara for a state visit at the Presidential Villa. Well, it looked like “God-did-well” for his faithful servants at the end of the circus.

Six-time Olympic champion Usain Bolt insisted on Thursday that he was a clean athlete and fans could trust him despite recent failed drugs test by the Jamaican’s sprint rivals Asafa Powell and Tyson Gay.

“I was made to inspire people,” Bolt told a London news conference ahead of his return to the Olympic track on Friday, when he will run in the 100-metres at the Diamond League Anniversary Games.

“I was given a gift, I know I’m clean. For me it happens [failed dope tests], I’m not going to stress about it,” added Bolt, the 100m and 200m world record holder.

Bolt’s compatriot Powell, the former 100m world record holder, tested positive for the banned stimulant oxilofrine at Jamaica’s national trials last month and is still waiting to discover if his ‘B’ sample confirms the original finding. United States sprinter Gay tested positive for the same stimulant in May.

A Spanish Train Derails Killing At Least 80 People

A Spanish passenger train went off the tracks and smashed into a wall, killing at least 80 people.the Madrid to Ferrol train derailed near the city of Santiago de Compostela last night, leaving at least 140 people injured.

Video footage from a security camera shows the train careering into a concrete wall as it came off the rails on the bend, before flipping onto its side and hurtling down the railway line with its terrified passengers on board.

Pokello Of BBA The Chase Moves On, Say's Its Over With Sex-Tape Boyfriend Stunner

Evicted Zimbabwean Big Brother Africa (BBA): The Chase housemate Pokello Nare has dumped her sex tape boyfriend, famous rapper Desmond “Stunner” Chideme, for her newly-found love.

According to NewsToday, Pokello acknowledged that she was in a relationship with Stunner before entering BBA, but that had since changed because of her affair with Ghanaian housemate Elikem in the house during a telephone interview. She said she had spoken to Stunner and they had agreed to remain friends.

“When I left the house, I spoke to Stunner on the phone about the developments in the house and we have agreed to be friends,” she said.

When asked about their relationship, Stunner denied having spoken to Pokello saying he was yet to talk to her to map a way forward. “I haven’t spoken to her and I will tell you my position when I talk to her. Whatever she told you is the position,” an emotional Stunner said.

Stunner had initially been dropped by Pokello during the Live Eviction show on Sunday when BBA host I.K asked her about her relationship back home and what she would do now that she had Elikem. “I’m feeling Elikem big time, all day, every day, it is what it is. I will wait for him,” Pokello said, not mentioning anything about Stunner.
