Could This Be The Year For The Red's? As Liverpool Top The English Premier League

Liverpool beat Tottenham for the second time this season to move two points clear at the top of the Premier League with their eighth consecutive victory.

The visitors' resolve was broken inside two minutes when Glen Johnson's low cross was turned into his own net by Younes Kaboul, and Luis Suarez doubled the Reds' lead with a clinical finish on 25 minutes.

Coutinho added another layer of gloss to the scoreline with a wonderful low drive from distance on 55 minutes before Jordan Henderson's free-kick flew through a mass of bodies to compound Tottenham's humiliation.

Spurs showed little in the way of attacking threat, but it will be their basic defensive errors that will have head coach Tim Sherwood most concerned.

After glaring mistakes in recent games with Southampton and Chelsea, it was a familiar story for Spurs and Liverpool ruthlessly exposed their deficiencies in extending their unbeaten league run to 13 matches.

Court Stops Toll Collection On Lekki-Ikoyi Bridge

Sahara Reporters : a Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, today nullified the collection of any toll or tariff on the Lekki-Ikoyi Bridge.

Ruling on the suit, which was filed by human rights lawyer, Ebun Adegboruwa, presiding judge, Justice Saidu, J. held that the power of control over all navigable waterways in Nigeria resides in the Federal Government, and not any state government.

He held that from all the documents made available to the court, the only justification for the toll fee on the bridge by Lagos State is the private partnership law.

However, he noted that the law could not apply to the Lekki-Ikoyi Bridge since it was built with the money of the Lagos State Government, without the involvement of any private partnership.

“Thus, since there is no law supporting the toll fee, it is illegal and should be stopped forthwith”, Justice Saidu said.

It would be recalled that the state government last year, announced rainfall of between 249 and 275 days with intermittent stoppages.

President Jonathan Stopped NNPC From Buying New Aircraft

President Goodluck Jonathan has been cited for his reluctance to approve the purchase of a new jet for the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC for the continued hiring of a private jet for the corporation’s senior officers, including the Minister of Petroleum, Mrs. Diezani Allison-Madueke.

The president’s reluctance is despite problems associated with the NNPC’s two private jets. One of them, a Hawker 4000, which crash landed in Warri, Delta State, sources said was to be balkanised for spare parts to service another Hawker 4000 in the presidential fleet on account of lack of spare parts following the stoppage of spare parts production by the manufacturer’s of the planes.

The other aircraft it was claimed, was abandoned after it lost altitude twice forcing the corporation officers to abandon the two aircraft.

The explanations by government sources followed recent controversies arising from the hiring of a Challenger aircraft by the corporation for the use of the minister and senior officials of NNPC.

Founder of Nigeria’s first private online university, Beni American University, will be featured on CNN’s ‘African Start-Up’ series, which highlights Africa's SME entrepreneurs.

Gossy Ukanwoke has been called Nigeria’s Mark Zuckerburg. Like the Facebook founder, Ukanwoke started a social networking site when he was in school, and that sparked another big idea to create Nigeria's first private online university. Now the 25-year-old is in business with ten instructors and about two hundred students, as well as a long list of challenges he still needs to get through. It’s an ambitious journey filled with risks and rewards.

In the feature with ‘African Start-Up’ this week, Ukanwoke, said he was motivated by the response and audience he received when he created a social network called ‘Student Circle’ which sparked his big idea to create Nigeria's first private online university.

Ukanwoke tells ‘African Start-Up’, “higher education is needed for the development of Africa; the Beni American University is referred to as American because we are building on an American curriculum and semesters. Basically, I think in global terms, not just Africa or Nigeria and my intentions are to develop a global standard university that promotes proper education.”

Reps Uncover Second Aircraft : Diezani Scandal

Fresh revelations indicated on Tuesday that Petroleum Minister, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, maintained a second jet.

The jet, a Global Express XRS plane, is allegedly chartered specifically for her private and official trips overseas. A return trip on the XRS plane is said to cost taxpayers €600,000.

The jet is different from the Challenger 850, which the House of Representatives said gulped N10bn in the last two years to fly the minister.

Investigation showed that the House Committee on Public Accounts stumbled on the second jet in the course of the ongoing probe into the N10bn expenditure on Challenger 850.

Transcript Collection Made Easy - Electronic Transcript Exchange For Nigeria (ETX-NG)

In the scenario of irregularities and frauds that exist today, certifying bodies must resort to every step possible to protect their credentials at any cost, because each time,

Some impersonator falsely uses their credentials, its value plunges down. This happens when you do not have a reliable and trustworthy verification process to safeguard your testimonials, which the Electronic Transcript Exchange, Nigeria exclusively proposes to do for organisations in Nigeria as well as those around the world. The ETX-NG has developed an online database of existing certificate holders and providing free information to the students, while proposing to deliver these to corporate organizations at a minor cost.

Why Certificate Verification is Important: These measures became necessary due to the unfortunate practice of some Nigerians resorting to document forgery, consequently bringing the educational system of the country to disrepute. Another and more important stimulant for introducing the transcript exchange was the institutions’ delaying tactics in sending supporting documents late to the needy.

Pastor Sam Adeyemi, a Woman Can Propose To Her Man

Leadership speaker and Senior Pastor of Daystar Christian Centre, Pastor Sam Adeyemi, while preaching on “Prepaper for the wedding”, on Sunday, March 16th, shared his opinion about women proposing to their men.

He said. “Some people may ask, Pastor is it okay for it to be the lady that will tell the guy about marriage? Well, is there anywhere in the bible that says a lady can’t tell a man? The thing though is, a lot of time, it’s better for the guy to pop the question because men become suspicious a lot of time when they are being chased.

They like to eat meat that they chased in the bush. They don’t like the one that falls on their lap dead. However., sometimes, all the signs are there that she is the one but he is not just speaking. Its also not healthy for the lady emotionally for the man to be so close to her and yet not say anything. So in such a case, a lady needs to prod him.

So how can a lady go about it? Ask him where are we going? I sense this is where the relationship is going, what do you think? Its either a yes or a no, but with that, you know where you are going instead of being on an emotional roller coaster and your heart is smashed into pieces at the end of the day”.

Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, with 239 people on board, went missing after taking off from Kuala Lumpur 8 March.

The announcement came as a search effort in the southern Indian Ocean completed a fifth day of operations.

The developments happened the same day as Australian officials announced they had spotted two objects in the southern Indian Ocean that could be related to the flight, which has been missing since March 8 with 239 people aboard.

The Of Confessions Maria Terese George at TB Joshua's church By Ihechukwu Njoku

Whether it’s addressing contentious issues on Facebook, prophesying world calamities or witnessing celebrity ‘deliverances’ in his Lagos-based church, the name of controversial Nigerian Pastor T.B. Joshua can’t seem to leave the news of late.

The events of his church service broadcast live via Emmanuel TV on Sunday 23rd March 2014 proved to be no different as The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) witnessed the confession of two lesbians who said ‘demons’ were behind their lifestyle.

Maria Terese George from Delta State, Nigeria explained to the congregation that her poverty-stricken background pushed her to seek help from an older lady. However, she had ulterior motives in promising to help the attractive 19 year old. “She took me to a club where we went drinking,” Maria explained while speaking in the packed church. “She took me to her house and started touching me. Because I was drunk, I responded.”

The former military ruler said, “What I express about the conference is a personal view, that it is the duty of the National Assembly.

Thought It Was Spring Time!! SIX INCHES Of Snow Set To Fall on East Coast

It may officially be spring but it would be foolhardy for those living on the East Coast to pack away their winter coats, as an icy storm is predicted to hit next week.

The weather pattern, known as a 'bomb' by meteorologists, is due to hit on Tuesday night, and could dump up to six inches of snow in New York City, Washington DC and Boston. Temperatures are also predicted to plummet to a level more common for mid-January rather than late March.

The storm is still gathering strength as it moves from the Gulf of Mexico, making it hard to predict how many states will be affected.

Currently, it could bring snow across a swathe of states, from Virginia to New England.

Fashola Warn Lagosians

Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State has ordered officers of the Kick Against Indiscipline, KAI, to henceforth arrest people urinating and defecating in public places across the state.

Fashola, who was on his way to the free health mission at Oke-Ira, Ogba area of Lagos, southwest Nigeria, Thursday, said he saw five people urinating in public places and was disgusted by such a despicable act.

“This is a violation of our sanitation law and I will ask KAI to move out en-masse and prosecute those who violate our laws,” he lamented.
The governor urged residents to shun the practice and adopt healthy lifestyle, saying that environmental pollution contributes to the cases of ill-health that affects community dwellers.

“The biggest doctor you can have is prevention. If we all can imbibe better habits, it will reduce the incidence of ill-health. Citizens must be ready to take responsibility for their own healthcare to live a healthy life, if we chose to be cleaner than we are now, we would have a healthy environment than we have right now,” he said.

Jose Mourinho - Chelsea ‘Came To Kill’

Jose Mourinho side Chelsea ‘came to kill’ after they destroyed 10-man Arsenal 6-0 in Arsene Wenger’s 1,000th game in charge.

The Stamford Bridge clash between the Premier League title rivals was effectively over after 17 minutes with leaders Chelsea three goals to the good and the Gunners a man down.

Samuel Eto’o and Andre Schurrle had already scored before Eden Hazard saw his shot pushed away from goal by the hand of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Referee Andre Marriner awarded a spot-kick, but inexplicably brandished the red card in the face of a bemused Kieran Gibbs, before Hazard made no mistake from the spot.

Oscar scored either side of the interval before Mohamed Salah added a humiliating sixth to leave Arsenal back on the fringes of the title race, with Mourinho admitting his side’s lightning start made the difference, although he still refuses to accept they are title favourites.

11 Signs That She Is Not That Into You - By Greg Ighodaro

Girls are not easy to understand. No wonder it becomes very confusing for a normal guy to find out, if a girl is interested or otherwise. However there are also cases when we become victims of ignorance where we fail to notice basic signs that lie in front of our eyes. It is always better to pick these signs, before she assumes you to be this desperate psycho trying every chance to gain her attention. Here are 10 signs that she is not that into you:

1.    She often doesn't bother to return your calls:
You could assume that probably she’s been so busy with work that she didn't get even two minutes to spare or that she obviously must have lost her phone or you could just come face-to-face with reality that, she’s just not that into you.

Na See Finish Ohh, President Mugabe of Zimbabwe - Nigerians re Corrupt

Its a sad thing i must say, but whose fault is it really? Mugabe said Zimbabweans are now almost behaving like Nigerians who have to be corruptly paid for every service.

“Are we now like Nigeria where you have to reach your pocket to get anything done,” he said. “You see we used to go to Nigeria and every time we went there we had to carry extra cash in our pockets to corruptly pay for everything. You get into a plane in Nigeria and you sit there and the crew keeps dilly dulling without taking off as they wait for you to pay them to fly the plane,” said the president followed by a huge laugh from the delegates attending his birthday bash.

THE DILEMMA OF NATION By Philip Amiola

Nigeria is undoubtedly a country with great promise. On account of her favourable weather conditions and rich supply of natural resources, Nigeria was once described by my good friend, Olanike Omolehin, as a country situated in the heart of God; and I agree with her. However, in the same piece, she laments the woes of Africa’s second largest economy calling it, among other things, “My sweet country where NOTHING works”. And that’s where the dilemma is. As much as we cannot deny Nigeria’s potential to become one of the most desirable nations to live in, we also cannot shy away from our pervasive challenges.

One problem that has especially bothered me over time is our value system which seems to have little respect for human dignity and the sanctity of human life. Needless loss of lives does not seem to bother us anymore. When we're not talking about the destruction being wreaked by Boko Haram, we're discussing the havoc being inflicted by Fulani herdsmen. That is not to mention police brutality, illegal detention, dehumanising condition of our prisons and various acts of subjugation.

Finance Minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala,Confirmed To Speak At The Nigeria Summit 2014

The Economist Events has announced Nigeria’s Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Finance, Hon. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has just confirmed to speak.

Minister Okonjo-Iweala will be joining 350 global leaders comprising government ministers, international investors and leaders of Nigerian society for the Nigeria Summit, scheduled  for March 24th and 25th at the Intercontinental Hotel in Lagos.

One of the key themes driving this year’s summit will be how Nigeria can turn its unprecedented economic growth into wider social prosperity. This discourse comes at a fascinating time in Nigeria’s development. A recently recalculated GDP suggests that Nigeria’s economy is now the biggest in sub-Saharan Africa. How Nigerian leaders employ this economic power to tackle poverty and uneven development, remains a key question for the country and potentially the strategic issue for the nation.
